Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Virtual Race?

Virtual races are just like traditional races with a shirt,  community and fun, but you can run, walk or hike your race wherever you want with whoever you want. Even on a treadmill! Racers report their time online.

How do I receive my race materials?

T-shirts can be shipped to you for a small fee, or free pick-up at the District Office can be arranged by calling 510-881-6700 or emailing info@HaywardRec.org

How much do the races cost?

Both On-site and Anywhere courses, for both the 5K or 10K cost $20.00.

Do I have to do my race on Race Day ?

The beauty of virtual racing is the flexibility to do what works best for you.  You can run anytime between September 1-30th.

Is the race course certified?

Yes. Both the 5K and 10K courses are certified by U.S. Track and Field. The courses are measured by the shortest possible distance which may cause a discrepancy if you measure your own distance with GPS.

For more information, look at http://www.usatf.org/events/courses/certification/manual/

Can I listen to music while I run?

Yes. You can listen to music, but please note that bicyclists, hikers, and emergency vehicles may be sharing the trail so be aware of your surroundings.

Can I bring my dog?

Dogs are not allowed on the trail or at the center. This is a park rule set for the protection of the many wild animals that live here.

Can I run with a stroller?

Yes, you can run with a stroller. The trail is gravel and packed dirt, so make sure the wheels on the stroller can run over it smoothly. Do not give children inside a stroller a race bib because the timing chip would track their finish time.

How do I view the race results?

You can choose to receive your results via text or email as you cross the finish line. They will also be posted online at www.runsignup.com.
